A day-long professional development was held by BooKS on November 15, 2014. Members of the leadership team, graduate assistant, graduate fellows and their partner teachers attended the event. Guest speaker Dr. Kenneth Walsh, an assistant professor from Civil Engineering, gave a presentation on teaching as a university professor at Ohio University. PhD candidates Laura Patch and her colleague from College of Education offered a talk and led a hands-on activity on applications of iPad game apps for teaching. To summarize the findings from all the boat trips in the past four years, Dr. Kelly Johnson and BooKS project coordinator Yanhui Fang presented “Exploring BooKS River Data”.
2013 BooKS (Boat of Knowledge in Science Classroom, a NSF GK-12 project) Summer Workshop was held from July 22 to 26. XinYe, Yanhui, and Qing presented VBEE user study and next steps in development. Kal Jaber and Elaine Geotz demoed their 2D game on ipad.

The 2012 BooKS (NSF GK-12 The Boat-of-Knowledge in the Science Classroom) summer workshop and symposium were held from July 16 to July 20.
The BooKS video has been awarded the first place in the national video competition. Congratulations!
